Right now

Steps you can take.

Find a safe spot

Move to a place where you feel safer or with someone you trust (friend, family, staff).

Reach out

Call, text, or chat with one of the crisis options above. If someone is with you, ask them to stay while you reach out.

Remove immediate risks

If you have access to anything you could use to hurt yourself, move it away or ask someone to hold it.

Grounding

Try slow breaths: inhale 4 seconds, hold 4, exhale 6. Repeat a few times while you connect with help.

Loop in an adult

Tell a trusted adult (advisor, counselor, parent/guardian). If you cannot reach one, stay on with crisis support.

After the moment

Follow-up and ongoing care.

Tell the team

If you want, let a GSA advisor know so we can help with space, check-ins, or adjustments at school.

Message advisors

Plan ahead

Create a simple safety plan: who you will contact, coping steps, and a list of supportive people and places.

Rest & care

Hydrate, eat something small, and rest. Let someone you trust know you reached out so they can check in.
